Updated 10/16/2008 by GamerGirl488. various outdated information changed/updated
Please read this first post, the posts that follow this one are not a set of rules, but some basic information and how to join usergroups

My Theme Forum Rules

Welcome! Below are listed a few rules that must be followed to get the most out of the My Theme Forum. This list was written by Pika23, a member/mod of The My Theme Forum.

1. Spam
Spam is not permitted on the My Theme Forum. Spam posts will be deleted, and spam topics will be closed (meaning all replies will be prevented). Below is a definition of spam.

Spam, which stands for stupid, pointless, annoying messages, is any post that does not provide anything to the board, or the topic and any replies to the topic.

Examples of spam include:
1a. Signature tests
Signature tests do not provide anything to the board. Thus, you are not permitted to make a topic which only has the purpose of viewing your signature. There are 2 good ways to test your signature: Making a decent post and sending a Private Message to yourself.

1b. Advertisements
Absolutely no commercial advertisments or links are allowed. It must be remembered that the forum is not here for getting your site publicity. Do not make a topic about your site, and attempt to advertise it. The way to advertise your personal site is to put a link in your signature and post around with your signature. However, if you are just here to advertise your site, you'll probably be banned.

1c. Wrong-board posts
This probably happens the most out of all things. If you get your topic in the wrong area we will move it. Please make sure you get it in the right topic though. It helps us out alot.

1d. Post Mistakes
If you make a mistake on your post, don't just post again. Use the edit icon right above the post. Make your edits and go on.

2. Signature and Avatar Length
You are not permitted to have a signature longer than 700 characters. If you sig is longer then that don't try to save it for your sig because it won't let you.
Avatars must be no more than 175 pixels wide.

Please keep signature images small and please do not have a large amount of text. If a Moderator deems your signature to long or big please comply and shorten it. Please do not post full song lyrics in your sig.

3. Posting ettiquette
Please do not type in all capitals. And try to punctuate correctly. Poor spelling/grammar/punctuation makes your posts hard to read, as well as open to misinterpretation.

4. Language
PLEASE watch your language!!! If the mods think anything is unproper or insulting you say we WILL edit or delete your post.

5. Ranks
Ranks are determined by post count. They are as follows:

Theme Newbie 0-9
Theme Peasent 10-29
Theme Merchant 30-79
Theme Senior 80-139
Theme Master 140-199
Theme Knight 200-279
Theme Noble 280-479
Theme King 480-589
Theme Demi God 1000-1499
Theme Titan 1500-4999
Theme Reaper 5000+

6. Moderators/Administrators
Moderators have the power to edit and delete posts. Each one has power over the entire UBB, but they restrict their power to their partciular board. The Mods who mainly use their power on a particular board are listed on the main board screen.

Administrators use their powers on all boards without restrictions. They can not only edit and delete posts but they can ban and delete users and promote and demote Mods as well. There is 1 Admin. His name is Dave and his Username is Admin.

7. Anything else?
Any questions not answered on this list should be asked in the Tech. Help board or PM (Private Message) a Mod.

.::. Rules from the Admin .::.

You may NOT do the following:

(i) Utilize the Services to copy material from third parties (including text, graphics, music, videos or other copyrightable material) without proper authorization.

Hello all you fellow Mythemers, Nightmare here.

I am just posting this to announce that I have just recently become the new Lounge Admin. If you're wondering what that means, it means that I am now the guy that can accept and decline new members to the Lounge usergroup. I also have to make sure people are following the rules of the Lounge, and keep it nice and clean.

The Lounge, for those that don't know, is a special board for those users that reach 800 spam free posts. The posts that will count towards your total will be every post you have, minus those posted in Word Game Central and Introduce Yourself. If you don't know what your actual post count is, you may PM me and I will help find out for you. If it is above 800, then I will let you in, if not, then I'll inform you what your total is and how many you will need.

In case you were wondering, the reason posts in Word Game Central and Introduce Yourself are not being counted is because those two boards are too easy of a way to boost your post count. Someone can easily go to WGC and post in a simple game all day, or someone could go to Introduce Yourself and just say "Hi" to everyone. It's too simple of a way to get posts, so I'm not going to count them.

If you have any questions, concerns, or want membership into the Lounge, then you may PM me, and I will get back to you whenever I can.

All Moderator Forum
For Moderators ONLY. This is the place for the mods to discuss forum improvements, spammers, etc. This is not a conversation group. You cannot become a mod if you are new. If you are looking at this, and you joined in 2008 or later then forget it. There are many people in front of you.

The Adult Forum
The Adult Forum is a special forum for people over 18. If you think you are eligible to join, then PM admin.

NOTE: This is my Opinion, others opinion on what constitues a newbie vs. a regular may vary

Squib
Some one who does not come to the forum at all and is only regestered to make themes
Newbie
Some one who will leave within a few days, has a small amount of posts
Muggle
Some one who seems to be here to stay, but just joined and has 200 below posts. People usually aren't Muggles for long
Mudblood
A. Someone who has a lot of posts (we're talking Demi gods and up), but hasn't even been here a full month
B. Someone who has been here for a good two months but is working their way up in posts (Only reason they arn't a regular is because we're still unsure if they are going to stay
C. A combination of the two
Regular
Someone who is above a Demi God, Some one who has been here over three months, Someone who all the regulars know
Original Regular
The Original regulars are mostly all mods. It is impossible to become an original regular <- This does not mean all mods are original regulars or all original regulars are moderators. These are people who have been here since the beginining. They've joined anywhere from April to October, 2003.

For those of you who are curious like I always was here are the mod’s extra buttons:

This is the bottom of the page for every topic. (Button Meanings from left to right: Delete, Move, Lock, Split.)

This is the list of options when posting/editing a topic.

This shows up at the top of every person’s post instead of simply quote.

Comes up when you want to delete a topic.

Comes up when moving.

The screen set up for splitting. (There are check boxes at the end of every post.)

IP address page. (I removed the numbers in paint.)

Wanna Help the Mods?
Here's some tips for those of you that want to make the mods' lives a bit easier.

1. Know the rules and follow them.

2. Do not continue to post in a spam topic after it has been branded as spam. (i.e. stating "This is spam. It should be locked" over and over) A mod will get to it eventually to lock and/or move it. If it's been a few days and people still continue to post in a spam topic, you can try to PM an online moderator. But BEWARE! Some of us are rather cranky. Twisted Evil

3. If there is a thread that you KNOW isn't in the correct forum, simply state the correct forum. So when a mod comes along, they can just move it without worrying about specifying where it went.

4. If you have a question for and/or problem with one of the mods, PM them or use the sticky in Comments and Suggestions. DO NOT make a thread to complain about a mod or ask why your topic was locked.

5. Try to help people in Technical Help whenever possible. It may not sound like much help, but it's usually mods that end up answering most of the questions in there (possbily because we tend to jump from board to board, on the look-out for spam. Cool ). It'll just save us some time. Very Happy

Other mods are welcome to add to this list.

Signature and Avatar Sizes

All signatures MUST be 550 x 250 pixels or LESS(INCLUDING TEXT). There are NO exceptions to this rule. If a moderator PMs you to change your signature you MUST comply and size it down to regulation size. If not, then you face a possible ban.

Here is a 550 x 250 image:

All avatars MUST be 175 x 200. There are NO exceptions to this rule. If a moderator PMs you to change your avatar you MUST comply and size it down to regulation size. If not, then you face a possible ban.

Here is a 175 x 200 image:

We do not care if you think this rule is "stupid." Not complying with a moderator's PM WILL result in a ban. Large signatures and avatars disrupt the flow of the forum and make it difficult for users on slower connections.
