Wunjo

The moon is rising above the lake
It's image mirrored in the soft waves
Two figures emerge from a beaten path
The trip was restless and legs ached

Stripped bare of their sweat soaked clothes
The figures descended together into the lake
Surfacing as one below the moons warm glow

A cool breeze descended
Whispering through the trees and across the placid surface
To their ears it reached
Singing it's nocturnal song

And the figures embraced
Legs lightly kicking below the surface
As fingers slipped between fingers
And lips brushed against lips

Rose petals rained from the heavens
Wunjo the winds whispered
And their love blossomed

Lying
Waiting
Feeding off nectar of desparity
The insufferable will
Broken
Torn; Thrown to the floor

Lost in the cold
Limbs dragging; regressing
A lesser man, fallen
Lost in the clouds
In search of the Sun

Distant

A slight chill in a Summer night
Is that the essence of love fading?
Of a burning heart on its way to freezing?

Who knows
What it is
That the new day brings
With the birds songs
And glistening dew

Who ever pondered
Where it were
That a void could exist
While bright shines the sun
And fog rolls off the lake

Close your eyes
And welcome the breeze
Maybe some pieces will remain
And mended can your heart become

But maybe
Its just like a snake shedding its skin
And the new Sun beckons a new chapter
So try not to be hurt too much
Even if everything appears so distant

Repeating It A Thousand Times

Sitting in a vacant lot
The numbness still eating away
Life appears to go on
Without us; without you
My heart still screams your name
My hand still reaches out for yours

I'm repeating it a thousand times
I love you, I love you, I tell myself
But you no longer care
And that's the worst part...

I may never know where it all went wrong
And that gives me my false hope
To figure it out
At whatever cost
So I can cease repeating

I want you back
I need you here
To make it all seem right
But how can I compete?
When I can't even stand on my own two feet...

The World Is Cold and My Legs Grow Weak

Hallowed
A lone bird flies overhead
A single rain drop falls from the sky
A rose petal flutters to the earth

There's a fog encompassing all
The sun is gone and wont return
And the ground beneath my feet grows cold
It digs its way into my bones
I can't find any warmth...

Collapsing
A glacier vanishes overnight
A scream pierces through the silence
A lonely tear drop running down a cheek

There's nothing for me here now
Maybe there's something waiting over the hills
But I can't bare the load any further
My feet wont carry me anymore
I want to reach the Sun

But I just don't have the strength...

How I wish those days could just fail to exist
To not be stuck in the past
To not quarrel with myself
But they're locked in the past
Those memories and I

The wounds have nearly healed
But the scars do remain
The breeze brings a chill
That I just cannot shake
Some days are okay
Some better than others
But a bad one is the darkest of days

How would a year in feel?
How 'bout a year out?
I see many tough days ahead
I'm impatient
Wanting a new chapter in life
I want to close the door I'm pacing around
To keep weary eyes
From prying inside
To stop imagining myself wrapped up in your arms

So where does this chapter end?
Surely not the last of this book
There's still so much to be written
But the pen has stopped writing
I can almost see the writer
Peering down upon paper
With a look of distress
I know the words are many
But there's just no way to write them

So bring on the new day
I'll occupy myself
Life goes on after all
There's still some better days

I'm not sure what I had in mind for this. Just began listening to Erik Satie's Gymnopedie and just felt the need to write. The words evolved as the more I wrote and in some ways reflect how I feel in regards to some concerns and with others speaks of a world deep within that is often never acted upon. I don't much like the structure of the words, but the feeling I get from it I do quite like. *shrug*

O! What a world is this!
Filled with figures so different than I
How I hold them in contempt
Yet find them so precious
Their essence...inspiring

I'll catch a gaze in the fog
Perhaps a smile or two
This place is so new
And I hear notes
Gently rocking the day away

I'll play my part
But know that I want out
To walk along cobblestones
And to hear the church bells
Calling through the fog
I'll wrap myself tighter
And head for the pew

I wont pray or bow my head
The priests word wont linger for long
But the essence of this
How it fills my soul
Maybe God will check up on his creation
Or maybe not

But I'll leave with a smile
And know this world holy
But I wont lean on God to guide me
For isn't that the very gift He gave us?
To lead ourselves?
