| Cheerleading can be dangerous if your team is full of idiots but you can't say it's one of the most dangerous in the game. I don't know why anyone could consider Cheerleading a sport... I can't think of any sport that revolves around people being 100% fake and happy. |
have i told you lately how much i appreciate you?

i understand its hard and takes alot to do, but may i point out
just because it takes work and practice, does not mean it is a sport. it just means it takes work and practice.
and i dont get why cheerleaders get so offensive when people say its not a sport...really, no one said it wasnt hard, no one said u dont have to be dedicated, no one said it doesnt take alot of work
all they said was, its not a sport. and i belive cheerleading is not a sport myself
in my opinion, no sport should includ judges or rhyming. _________________

That's so lame. Every cheerleader says that it's her life when clearly it isn't. Do you spend all day practicing cheering? _________________

| a lot of people say dancing and cheerleading aren't sports- it's just their definition of sports. dancing and cheerleading are sports. A lot of hard work is involved! |

I find chess takes a lot of work too... It's a hard sport, after all. _________________

...You're very right. We DO work our butts off, and it's good... ...But, it's all show, nothing more. I love it, don't get me wrong, but... I mean, it's not like we're going to Nationals or anything. |
But many teams do go to Nationals and compete. In fact most go to competitions. I do think its a sport it fits the criteria. But of course I am open to other opinions. |

this sounds odd, but I don't think it's a sport because it doesn't seem straining enough, and practices seem wimpy. I want a cheerleader to attend a good football practice, or hell even one of my field hockey practices, and have them tell me that cheerleading is a sport. I don't hear about cheerleaders getting hurt, sure i think it happens, but i just don't hear about it. I've almost broken every finger on my right hand and pulled leg muscles continually.
idk i'm gonna get yelled at for this, but i just don't think it's straining enough, and like someone said, there isn't a proleague for it, i think anyone who is flexible and can yell could be a cheerleader, just doesn't seem hard enough |
Actually its not just flexibilty. And cheerleading practices and very hard, especially conditioning. You go home acing honestly. And if you honestly have never heard of cheerleaders getting hurt, then no offense you must not know much about the sport. And if you want injuries, look up Kristi Yamaoka, wonderful girl, and Lauren Chang. |

okay im a cheerleader and yeah i see why some people think its not a sport but it so is.
practices are rediculous, theres extraneous amounts of stretching, conditioning, running, continuous lifting of 100 pound girls, jumping hitting sharp motions, tumbling.
i practice 7 days a week. 2 and a half to 3 hours every day. all we do is cheer. on top of all the practices, theres workout days, tumbling at night, games, competitions on the weekend. its a whole lot. during practices its constantly shouting the words being thrown in the air asked to kick and double twist, pull a bow & arrow and leave it there without your hand, do backhandsprings & tucks over and over again. its a lot of work.
someone said before that people dont get hurt? are you kidding me! people pull muscles aaaalll the time, broken bones, ect. and if you mess up a stunt, it could hurt like hell. you get punched in the face, eye and lots of other places. and unlike other sports, if you get injured it doesnt matter. if someone gets hurt, the whole team suffers.
at my school, were deff considered a sport way. more then the football team, when people were late or we dropped a stunt during halftime, we ran 2 laps around the track every person/stunt. yeah. |
